Taliesin West Tour
Wednesday, October 2, 2024 1:00-2:30 p.m. Cost: $49 per person. Space is limited. Must prepay with NASDAD for our group tour. Join our first group adventure to tour Taliesin West. This is the remarkable winter home and desert studio of Frank Lloyd Wright. Don't miss this opportunity to experience the unique beauty of the Sonoran Desert and the vision of Frank Lloyd Wright while exploring on the tour. This is a fascinating tour even if you aren't interested in architecture. Yet you'll come away with a new understanding of American architecture. Taliesin West is deeply connected to the land, and you won't find these stunning views anywhere else.
Please note, the space will be limited on this tour. This will be a wonderful kick-off for our convention time together. |
Explore Old Town Scottsdale
Wednesday, October 2, 2024 3:00-8:00 p.m. Head over to Old Town Scottsdale with NASDAD friends to enjoy some time exploring this walkable historic district. You'll find boutiques, art galleries, and souvenir shops with an historic cowboy flair. Check out the Old Adobe Mission and the other interesting landmarks in the area. Don't forget to bring your appetite because you'll walk by lots of great dining and sweet spots too.
No preregistration with NASDAD is necessary. Come and go as you please. Check closing times for specific sites you'd like to visit. Area museums and shops close at 5:00 or 6:00 p.m. |
We are pleased to provide this activity which will run both Thursday and Friday mornings. We are inviting beginners to seasoned players, and all ages, to step up for the NASDAD Pickleball Challenge. Pickleball is a terrific way to have fun, stay active, enjoy some friendly competition, and connect with others. All participants will receive a t-shirt, and there will be prizes!
Space will be limited, and preregistration will be required. You are welcome to bring your own paddle, or use a loaner paddle. Non-marking court shoes required. |
Our next group activity is stepping into nature with a tour of the botanical gardens. Stroll through trails to enjoy the variety of plants, flowers and wildlife in the area. We plan to enjoy the park as a group, but come and go as you please.
No preregistration with NADAD required. Pay the ticket fees to the botanical gardens directly in advance. The gardens close at 8:00 p.m. |
We’ve added an additional activity for attendees not involved with the Continuing Education Programs. The Musical Instruments Museum is a unique experience, displaying instruments and objects from every country in the world. It is a popular destination for families visiting Phoenix. You will be able to see over 6,000 instruments, hear their sounds and observe them being played. There is a gallery with some iconic instruments played by celebrities like Elvis Presley, Taylor Swift, and many others. Another gallery allows guests to try some intriguing instruments such as guitars, rattles, and gongs.
Attendees will purchase their own tickets, so no pre-registration is required by NASDAD. Simply meet in the lobby on Thursday, and we’ll carpool to the museum together. |
More Activities and Adventures!
We are still considering more NASDAD group activities designed to allow members and their families to both enjoy their stay and build new connections. There are local options for golfing, museums, hiking, disc golfing, shopping, plus all of the resort amenities. Let us know if there is something specific you would like to see added as an activity. |
